New Books

I’ve got a new love: Night Shade Books. They’re a small press releasing speculative fiction books, including some great collector’s items of the old pulp-era weird tales writers and their ancestors (not to mention a very impressive stable of contemporary fantasists). They’ve had a 50% off sale the last week of which I’ve taken serious advantage of, given that their books show a great tendency to increase in value once they’re out of print, and, of course, I love their books. Anyway, in this latest alldirect.com order, the first 5 titles are from this company, the last 2 are Penguin trade paperbacks. They’re incredibly beautiful books, especially the Hodgson.

  • Lord Dunsany – The Collected Jorkens – Volume Two
  • William Hope Hodgson – The Collected Fiction Volume Two, The House on the Borderland and Other Mysterious Places
  • Manly Wade Wellman – The Selected Stories Volume 2, The Devil is Not Mocked
  • Manly Wade Wellman – The Selected Stories Volume 4, Sin’s Doorway
  • Manly Wade Wellman – The Selected Stories Volume 5, Owls Hoot in the Daytime
  • Jorge Luis Borges – Collected Fictions
  • Saki – The Complete Saki
